Caves Around the World & Find My Cave Quiz

Concept, design and development of an interactive interface for the Cave exhibit space at the Union Terminal. The on-site installation at the Cave Plaza let guests explore selected notable caves around the globe through an interactive map. The caves are accessed via hotspots on the map and their main features presented in information pages with texts and stunning images.
Visitors may take a quick quiz to be matched with a cave and also send via email a postcard of their favorite cave.

  • The Goal

    Create an Interactive Map Interface for a kiosk located at the Cave lounge at the museum so guests can explore a virtual world map featuring extraordinary caves.

  • UI Design

    The activity presents an information-rich layered user interface (UI) both dynamic and fluid, evolving from simple buttons and menu navigation to adopt free-floating hotspots overlaid on the map as portals for geographic regions of engagement.

  • Gamified Map-Based Experience

    The exploration starts from a macro scale and move inwards, keeping visual references and cues while adding to the fluidity of the navigation.

  • Perfectly Adapted to Other Mediums

    The Caves Around the World and the Find My Cave Quiz interactive experiences were both sucessfully adapted from large touchscreen displays to desktop and mobile screens and are currently included as part of the CMC In Hand digital enviroment

      Guests tap on markers distributed over the virtual globe and learn about the cave’s profile.

      The quiz leads participants through a series of choices to reveal which cave best matches their preferences.
